On the 27th March 2013, The Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science (Official) posted a meme to their Facebook Group stating that the Anglo-Saxon Goddess Eostre, and the Christian festival of Easter, had their origins in the Goddess Ishtar-Astarte. This meme was met swiftly with fury and derision. Firstly by Christian Groups who were horrified that a Pagan Goddess of Ôdeath and resurrectionÕ was even suggested to be linked with their SaviourÕs own Ôdeath and resurrectionÕ festival. Especially one whose name sounds exactly like ÔEasterÕ.

But what happened next would set the stage for a decade to come. In a strange turn of events, the Germanic Neo-Pagan community took up the cause with a score to settle. For the next nine years they would dispute and debunk any and all links between Ishtar and Eostre. They would claim that ÒIshtar-Astarte is a foreign Goddess of Middle Eastern descentÓ and that Òshe wasnÕt venerated anywhere outside of that region!Ó

However, therein lies the problem. A rigid academic investigation into the subject shows that Ishtar-AstarteÕs worship was prevalent not only in the ÒMiddle EastÓ but down the Levantine Corridor, into Egypt and across Northern Africa, through ancient Greece and Rome, across Europe, up to Iberia, and even into the British Isles where she had at least SEVEN altars dedicated to her.

From there, her worship spread to the Germanic sources. We have at least THREE Germanic Academic texts which categorically state that Eostre and Ostara was originally the Goddess Ishtar-Astarte. All of which predate Jacob GrimmÕs ÔspeculationÕ on Eostre by quite some time.

She was the Goddess who endured. From her first Temple in Mesopotamia c.3600 - 3200 BCE to her first Temples in Egypt c.1427 - 1400 BCE. From her first Temple in Cyprus c.1200 BCE to her first Temples in North Africa, Spain, and Portugal during the Phoenician Expansion Period c.900 BCE. From her first Temple in Rome around c.217 BCE to her first Altars in Britannia c.117 to 138 CE, and to the point where her worship finally died out around c.1900 CE in modern Turkey, only a few hundred years ago.

The fact that the endurance of Ishtar-Astarte worship spans almost six millennia, and half the world over, should not be taken lightly. This was a Goddess elevated above all others during much of her history, and who went on to influence a great many other deities. No other Goddess in recorded history was venerated for so long and by so many.

Burned my already sensitive feet, too big
Color: Pink & Beige, Size: Medium/Large(fits size 8 to 11)
Feels icky, and the heat gets trapped and literally felt like my feet were being burned by these. The bottoms of these feel prickly and they are way too big. You have to sit still and cannot walk in them.

Just as good as paraffin wax
Color: Pink & Beige, Size: Medium/Large(fits size 8 to 11)
I might prefer these socks over paraffin wax. They are comfy and very moisturizing. I use these socks once a week to keep the heels and soles of my feet moisturized between pedicures. I rinse with warm, soapy water then hang to dry. They are hard to walk in, but there's a saying printed in the socks that's says something to the effect of "take a break, stay off your feet" lol I love that as a reminder to put my feet up and relax

Love these!
Color: Pink & Beige, Size: Small(fits up to size 7)
Love these! As I write this review, I’m sitting in my recliner with these on. I have had other silicone socks in the past and would like to share a few of the things that I have learned. These fit great! The others were 2-3 sizes too big because you could not order a size. I wear a size 7 women’s shoe. I got the smaller size. I walked around my apartment in my old ones and they got kinda yucky. Now, I sit in my recliner, put them on and chill for a few hours. I now take them off and put in a ziplock bag so they stay nice and clean (no cat hair!). I use them once a week usually on Saturday or Sunday as I’m a working girl. Also, I use Auqaphor before I put them on and put cotton socks on after I’m finished. Your feet will be SO soft. This is not a one and done…I do this every week especially during sandal season! I know this was lengthy and I hope you got some tips.

Absolute game changer for chronically dry feet/cracked heels
Size: S (up to size 7)-Beige
I had recently bought a pair of silicone heel/ankle wraps to fill out my boot a little since I noticed my heels were lifting when I was skating. I tested them out around the house and noticed they left my heels softer while the rest of my sockless feet got quite dry. So I got these full foot silicone socks to see the effect of having my whole foot covered. I slather the entirety of my feet with Dr. Scholl's Severe Cracked Heel Restoring Balm (love how convenient it is to apply it to my feet with the solid stick form) and then slip them into these silicone socks. After just a couple hours, when I pull out my feet they're (a teeny bit sweaty at first), but then overall soft and smooth and have absorbed the balm fully leaving barely any residue in the silicone sock. I find these silicone socks generally comfortable; I wear them in the evenings while relaxing on the couch, take them off after a couple hours and let my feet breathe a bit, and then reapply my balm and socks and wear them to bed. If I wake up in the middle of the night, which I almost always do (not because of the socks), I'll take the socks off and allow my feet to breathe again. I wear a woman's size 6 shoe and the small size is pretty comfortable. However, I made the mistake of wearing them while being on my feet for a couple hours straight during household chores -- they must've somehow cut off my circulation a bit with the standing, so I wouldn't recommend wearing these silicone socks while being active. And since they're not exactly my foot size, they slide around sometimes and will start to feel tight at my big toe. But if that happens, I just tug on the toe area of the sock to give my big toe more wiggle room and problem solved. Prior to wearing these socks, I was soaking and doing heavy duty exfoliation of my feet every week. These socks seem like they'll work to help me extend the time between soakings and exfoliations. The 5 pack is a great value. So far none have torn, so they seem rather durable. Not sure what I could even do to tear a hole in these.
